icandi CQ shines at WIPHOLD 20th anniversary celebrations

Women Investment Portfolio Holdings (WIPHOLD) recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a weekend of festivity at Sun City. WIPHOLD was founded in 1994 by Louisa Mojela, Gloria Serobe, Wendy Luhabe and Nomhle Canca. With a seed capital of R500,000, it has grown into an empowerment giant with a net asset value of more than R2bn. The company continues to be led by two of its original founders, Louisa Mojela and Gloria Serobe and has strategic investments across a number of strategic sectors, including financial services, agriculture, resources and infrastructure, cement production and coal mining.
Sharing its 20 year anniversary with a democratic South Africa and with the festivities starting on Human Rights Day, it was fitting that the company’s anniversary be shared with the many women it has empowered and its supporters over the past two decades. The three-day celebrations were attended by almost 1,200 guests from across the country – from urban movers and shakers in business, media and South African and Lesotho government representatives, to rural traditional leaders, farmers, teachers, community members and representatives drawn from WIPHOLD’s broad-base of shareholders.
Highlights of the event included gala dinners in the Sun City Superbowl, which included keynote speaker, Thabo Mbeki; performances by Pretty Yende, Lira and Mafikizolo. A conference during the day included a combination of plenary and breakaway discussions covering Small Scale Commercial Agriculture and Food Security, Education, Doing Business in Africa, Economic Inclusion & Governance, and Women’s Empowerment. The weekend closed with a special church service and lunch on the final day.
icandi CQ was privileged to be commissioned to be a part of this momentous occasion, and showcased the team’s creative intelligence both before and during the event.
icandi CQ was tasked with developing the overall theme and design concept for the event, which was based on the concept of SHINE. Motivated by the term, Ukukhanya, which means ‘let your light shine’, all elements of the event dew its inspiration from this, with the overall message being ‘WIPHOLD has shone for 20 years. Let’s shine for many more’.
icandi CQ designed and produced all event collateral – which included electronic and print communication, media and guest collateral, branding at Sun City and all stationery for the event.
The team was also tasked with guest registration and guest relations both before and at the event, managing the day’s conference and developing all video material.
A highlight was researching, writing, designing and producing a special 130 page commemorative coffee table book which showcases the company’s 20 year journey. The book along with a branded wine gift pack was given to each guest at the event.
The team has received many compliments for the stellar job it has done, both at the event and afterwards – from WIPHOLD and guests who attended.
“Words cannot describe how deeply grateful and thankful we are for the huge and absolutely brilliant job you did in making our WIPHOLD 20 year celebrations the spectacular success it was. Everything you delivered – the guest list management, the guest registration, the branding, the videos, the book, the conference management, the room drops, the transport shuttles, the guest SMS’s the list goes on and on…you did so much and every bit of it was delivered with utter professionalism, dedication and perfection.” (Debra Marsden: Head of Business Transformation and Public Affairs, WIPHOLD)
Commenting on the event, Kim Nelson from icandi CQ had this to say: ‘At icandi CQ we believe creative intelligence is not just about adding imagination, innovation and inspiration, it’s also about being committed to a better life for all South Africans. Beyond our pride in the work we have produced for this event, we’re also proud to have been able to contribute to the celebration of the success of a company that is dedicated to empowering women across South Africa– continuing in the legacy of their grandmothers, mothers, sisters and friends, who back in 1956, during the women’s march, set the foundation for this journey’.
Shine on WIPHOLD. Shine on icandi CQ.
